LOMI LOMI

"LOMI" means: "Massage" or "Loving Hands Massage" in Hawaiian. By repeating "LOMI" twice (lomi lomi) it emphasizes the profoundity of the word.
Lomi Lomi was performed for centuries in Hawaiian temples as a rite of passage. Recieving a Lomi healing was considered a great honor in ancient Hawaii. For centuries, the Kahunas have passed down the oral tradition of this sacred practice.
Lomi Lomi is performed on the entire body at once. Unlike most other massages where the therapist uncovers and treats one body region at a time, in a Lomi Lomi massage the therapist will use long flowing strokes that go from head to toe in a continuous, rhythmic movement massaging both the top and the underside of your body. Lomi massage is done on a massage table with no top or bottom sheets, this allows the unique underbody massage strokes to be performed.
The client is "The Reciever" and the therapist is "The Giver." The reciever is treated with great honor and is considered a sacred body on an altar by the giver. The giver will open the session with Hawaiian prayer. The chanting is a vibrational code which is desigened to raise the vibrational frequencies of the reciever, and invite the Gods in to the session. The giver thus becomes a conduit, a vehicle, to channel the God/Goddess energies through to the reciever. (Creating the space for ALOHA to occur). While the full body strokes and embracing techniques can make this massage a very sensual experience for the client, the giver is always viewing the reciever through a sacred lens. This allows the reciever the freedom to relax and embrace their feelings without judgment by the giver. All touch is done so with DEEP LOVE and GRATITUDE for the reciever.
Please arrive a minimum of 20 minutes prior to your treatment to relax in the sauna. Traditionally, clients should take a hot shower before and after the treatment. In the very least, please allow yourself enough time after the treatment to take a shower, as a generous amount of oils are used.
SPECIAL NOTE ON DRAPING:
Normally you are draped with only a small towel just to cover the genitals which are considered sacred. While face up, women are customarily offered breast covering, however, in traditional Lomi Lomi no breast covering is used. While the breasts are not massaged, the sternum (between the breasts) is massaged along with the entire side of the body. Some of these techniques cannot be performed with breast draping. While face down, the buttocks is usually minimally covered to at least ensure the genitals are covered. This minimal draping enables the therapist to slide his or her hands and arms under and around your body using massage techniques unique to this form of therapy.
The Seven Sacred Principles of LOMI LOMI are:
IKE (pronounced E’-kay): The world is what you think it is
KALA: There are no limits
MAKIA: Energy flows where attention goes
MANAWA (man-NAV-a): Now is the moment of power
ALOHA: To love is to be happy with
MANA: All power comes from within
PONO: Effectiveness is the measure of truth
